Donations of Money

The Falmouth Historical Society is a small, all-volunteer public charity.  Our primary source of income is donations and dues.  (The IRS considers our dues to be donations.)  We are a 501(c)(3) public charity so donations are deductible to the extent permitted by law.  We are fortunate to have the Museum and Barn where we can store artifacts and documents reflecting our town's heritage and help us tell the story of Falmouth.  Operation and maintenance of a 19th century "fixer-upper" is our biggest expense.  We need all the financial help we can get.  If you will support us, we'll accept your donations in any form from cash to electronic payments.

Donations of Books, Documents or Artifacts

We welcome items relating to Falmouth's History which may be used for research or display.  All donations are tax-deductible, and we will provide you with documentation of your donation.

Due to space and other resource limitations, we are not always able to accept all offers.  The best course of action is to contact the Society and as to have a member of the Collections Committee contact you to view and discuss your proposed donation.  If we are able to accept your items, we will ask you to sign an agreement transferring all rights to the item to the Society.

Loans of Items

Items and artifacts may also be loaned to the Society for research or display.   However, you would retain ownership of the item.  In this instance, there would be no tax implications for you or the Society.  Please contact the Society to discuss this option with a member of the Collections Committee.
